ALL-PURPOSE
Bryan Luther, sr., Silverado:
Luther was a dominant and versatile sprinter for the Hawks. He won DSL titles in the 100 and 200 in addition to being part of the DSL champion 4x100-meter relay team. He also competed in the 4x400 relay and ran the 100 in 10.86 seconds at the DSL finals.

DISTANCE (800, 1600, 3200)
Anthony Solis, sr., Barstow:
After winning a DSL championship in the 3,200 meters, the Aztecs senior was dominant in the CIF postseason. He advanced all the way to the state finals, where he ran a time of 9:11.27 and set a new personal record.

HIGH JUMP/POLE VAULT
Jamaal Franklin, jr., Serrano:
Franklin tied with Trarell Burley for an MRL championship record of 6-foot-6 in the high jump. He recorded another 6-foot-6 jump at CIF Masters to advance to the CIF State meet.

HURDLES (110, 300)
DiVance Walker, jr., Victor Valley:
Walker won DSL championships in both hurdles events, posting a time of 15.29 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 41.3 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles at the league finals.

LONG JUMP/TRIPLE JUMP
Trarell Burley, sr., Sultana:
One of the major reasons Sultana made the MRL boys race a tough fight, Burley was the MRL Boys Field Athlete of the Year. He qualified for CIF in the long jump (21-6), triple jump (42-1) and high jump (6-6).

SPRINTS (100, 200, 400)
Phil Rivera, sr., Apple Valley:
Rivera was named the MRL Boys Runner of the Year after a dominating season. He won league titles in the 200, 400 and both relays. He advanced to CIF Masters in the 400 and finished with a time of 48.91 seconds, narrowly missing out on a state berth.

THROWS (Shot put, Discus)
Jordan Bernal, sr., Apple Valley:
A dominant thrower throughout most of the season, Bernal missed out on an MRL championship but returned to form in the CIF postseason. He advanced to Masters in the discus with a throw of 162 feet, 1 inch at the CIF finals.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Sluder, Apple Valley:
Sluder’s Sun Devils boys team faced some stiff competition in the Mojave River League, but Apple Valley beat Sultana in a battle of unbeatens and claimed the school’s first boys track title in 16 years.
