Ledoux to play at World Championship
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Former Serrano volleyball player Caitlin Ledoux has made a name for herself on the beaches of Southern California.
Last month, Ledoux was one of four players named to the U.S. Junior National under-19 beach volleyball team to represent the United States at the Swatch FIVB Youth World Championship in Hague, Netherlands from July 30 to Aug. 3.
Ledoux will play on the country’s No. 1 team with Los Osos senior Tara Roenicke.
Ledoux, a Serrano graduate, went through three days of tryouts at Playa del Rey last month to make the team.
“There’s a bunch of great girls,” Ledeoux said. “It’s just an honor.”
Ledoux’s playing partner of the past two years, Jocelyn Neely, also made the squad and will play on the second team. The duo won a U.S. Junior
National beach championship and five other tournaments last summer.
At the international tournament, Ledoux and her American teammates will compete against other countries whose styles differ from how volleyball is played in America.
“I definitely hope for a medal,” said Ledoux, who will be a freshman this fall at Long Beach State. “It’s really exciting to see how everyone else (in the world) plays and how we fit in. Representing the USA is amazing.”
